Shoppers are voicing their frustration due to a modification that led to listings displaying inaccurate size information.
The second-hand shopping app has altered its measurement guidelines for women's and children's garments but did not contact all users about the change.
Digital Channels Backlash
Numerous buyers and vendors have taken to social media saying Vinted listings now show a different size category than originally posted because of the remapping.
The company said the revised method more closely matches comparable marketplaces.
It has advised users to check their listings and manually change the size if necessary, resulting in member annoyance.
Measurement Approach Changes
Before the change, the sizes had both one number and one letter, for instance S/8 or M/10.
The new system has a letter and a range for example S/UK 8-10.
In some cases, the measurements have been reclassified - like an L measurement was previously a 12 but now shows as UK 16-18.
Member Experiences
One content creator, who makes TikTok content about plus-size fashion, stated the update "complicates both purchasing and selling".
"Not many brands say XL is a 20-22," as the platform currently indicates.
Another user, from Glasgow, said garments she listed featuring size 14 markings were showing in the marketplace as larger sizing 20-22.
"If anyone [who is] size 20-22 buys them they're going to be very disappointed," she stated.
Required Changes
Charlotte Lunn, from Derby, said she had been left angered because the modification necessitated personal updates the measurements for "each individual item".
"For me this is particularly frustrating, because of my ongoing medical condition and selling on Vinted has been paramount after experiencing income reduction," she explained.
Platform Context
The platform boasts over 100 million shoppers, comprising 18 million UK members.
It has proved a popular alternative versus similar marketplaces including eBay and Depop.
This is not the initial instance when a surprising modification on the platform has faced criticism: previously, Vinted reversed a change regarding delivery choices following member complaints.
